In brief

What works, what to weigh

+

Strengths

4 reasons to book
  • Location that puts the city within reach — A short walk to Karlsplatz station and tram stops, with major sights like the Opera, Albertina, and Naschmarkt just minutes away.
  • A breakfast worth waking up for — A wide buffet with made-to-order eggs, fresh fruit, and a range of hot and cold options — praised consistently by guests.
  • Design and comfort in equal measure — Rooms are modern and functional, with comfortable beds, good sound insulation, and thoughtful details like coffee machines and USB ports.
  • A rooftop terrace and courtyard to unwind — Guests mention enjoying the rooftop terrace in the late afternoon sun and the quiet courtyard as a retreat from the city.

Worth weighing

4 to weigh
  • Rooms and cleanliness score lower than other aspects — With a guest rating of 7 for rooms and cleanliness, this is the hotel's weakest category — expectations should be adjusted accordingly.
  • Breakfast price is steep for some — At least one guest noted that the breakfast cost is much higher than eating at nearby cafes, so it may not be worth it for everyone.
  • Rooftop terrace has limited seating — The terrace is appreciated, but there are only a couple of tables, so it's not a place to sprawl out.
  • A few guests found the top floor noisy — One reviewer advised avoiding the top floor due to noise from the whip, though they noted it wasn't a party.

“This is practically the perfect hotel — modern, functional, stylish, and thought out in detail. The sound insulation is excellent, the toilet is separated from the bath by a quiet heavy door, the beds are perfect, and the Wi-Fi is fast throughout. There's a capsule coffee machine with daily refills, USB ports everywhere, a large TV, and a rooftop terrace with a couple of tables. The location is superb — we'll always stay in this area now. I booked without breakfast because the price here is 2–2.5 times more than the many cafes on the street.”

“Well-appointed rooms and a sensational breakfast.”

“The Triest has a great location just two tram stops from the opera house. Rooms are stylish and spotless, breakfast is a real treat with attentive staff, and the rooftop terrace was a hidden gem we had to ourselves in the late afternoon sun.”
